“Although an on-board-control is the nerve centre in every vehicle. All systems are connected with our interface. Therefore we work closely together with all departments. An interesting job.“

On-board computers for buses and trains: bustec VISION BT937

The on-board computer Vision BT937 designed for use on buses and trains is a real all-rounder amongst control devices for public transportation. The BT937 on-board computer is based on the BT900 control device, but is much more complex and offers a greater functional scope. With this on-board computer for passenger information systems, bus and train drivers are able to simultaneously operate all of their peripheral devices with a single control device. Many of the individual components that have previously been required to operate passenger information systems are now no longer necessary: the bustec BT937 on-board computer unites all of the functions within the vehicle.

Functions at a glance:

  • Driver control device for bustec exterior displays
  • Control device for bustec interior displays
  • Control device for TFT monitor systems
  • Control device for the announcement equipment in buses and trains

Operating the BT937 on-board computer

The operation of the on-board computer for bus and train is simple and intuitive. The touch display, something we are all familiar with from smartphones and tablets, enables the vehicle driver to quickly navigate the desired menus and functions. The coloured design of the user interface and the adjustable brightness and contrast features enable the vehicle driver to quickly locate the menu position for the desired entry field and is also gentle on the eyes.

Detailed look at the on-board computer

bustec on-board computers form the central switching point for data communication on the vehicle. In conjunction with peripheral devices (for example, display systems, validation machines, announcement technology, passenger counting systems and data communication) a bustec on-board computer checks, monitors and controls all actions that take place on the data bus. There are no additional devices or elements in the passenger information systems that the BT937 is not able to communicate with. This on-board computer for buses and trains is able to control both LED exterior displays and LED interior displays with ease. In addition, our all-in-one solution also controls the ticket printer, payment systems and announcement equipment for informing the passengers. It is particularly important to note that the BT937 on-board computer is also able to operate third-party products from other providers, in full and with a variety of data types. This on-board computer is popular since it enables direct communication with the control room (or dispatch centre).

The new bustec BT937 on-board computer offers high performance on a daily basis. This is due to the future-proof functionality of the device, which is characterised by Renesas SH-4 processor technology, a 32 MB data memory, a large LCD display and optional interfaces, such as GPS, GSM/GPRS and WLAN, in conjunction with the Windows CE 6.0 operating system.
